Singer Liam Gallagher has kicked off divorce proceedings to end his marriage after falling for his former aide Debbie Gwyther.
The ex-Oasis frontman has told wife Nicole Appleton there is no way back after becoming close to Debbie during the fallout of his reported relationship with US journalist Liza Ghorbani , which resulted in claims that he fathered her lovechild.
The news has devastated former All Saints singer Nicole, who just three days ago was seen wearing her wedding ring while she dined out with sister Natalie and her husband Liam Howlett.
Sources close to Liam, 40, say that he is head over heels in love with Debbie and wants to spend the rest of his life with her.
His new romance spells the end of his three-year marriage to Nicole, 38. The pair didn’t speak for weeks after reports began to surface in July that Liam was the father of Liza’s baby girl, after the pair met for an interview in New York last year.
Liam and Nicole are now said to be in telephone contact, although it is not to reconcile their relationship – but to end it.
One friend of Liam’s said: “There was no contact for a very long time after the stories began to break, but now Liam and Nicole are talking.
However, it isn’t about trying to make their relationship work, it’s about their son Gene and how they are going to go about a divorce.
“Liam has known Debbie for a while and really, really adores her. He knows that she is the woman he wants to be with, not Nicole or Liza. So that’s it for his marriage.
"He has looked into the first stage of divorce proceedings and takes the view that there is no point hanging around and not doing anything. They may as well get on with it and move on with their lives.”
Nicole was left devastated when it was claimed that Liam had apparently cheated on her with Liza.
As the story broke, he didn’t return home to London but instead went to Ibiza to perform with his new band Beady Eye. Nicole, meanwhile, went to America to be with her family.
Talking to the Sunday People about her heartache, Nicole’s mum Mary said: “Nikki is devastated – we all are. She said, ‘I’ve got a text, Mum, that says, ‘I wish I could
be with you’. He’s probably so out of it and so off his head that he doesn’t know what day it is.”
The pair first began dating in 2000 and 18 months later Nicole gave birth to Gene. Liam was so smitten that he recorded the tune Songbird to show how much he loved her.
The couple married in a quiet London ceremony on Valentine’s Day in 2008.
Now Nicole is demanding that she has the marital home – a £5million mansion in Hampstead, North London.
Meanwhile, Liza is suing Liam for £2million over child-support claims . She has filed a lawsuit for the money relating to the alleged lovechild, who is thought to be just under a year old.
Liam is reported to have told the 39-year-old that the baby girl has got “rockstar genes”. It is also claimed that a DNA test has been carried out which proves that Liam is the father.
Liam previously dated actress Patsy Kensit and the couple have a son, 13-year-old Lennon.
He also has a daughter, Molly, 15, who he had with singer Lisa Moorish, 40. Nicole used to be engaged to Robbie Williams.

Liam Gallagher’s family rallied round his wife Nicole Appleton yesterday over claims the rocker fathered a lovechild.
And one relative said: “Liam has only got himself to blame – he’s just too wild. I said he should never have got married.”
Nicole, 38, has so far remained silent about the accusations her husband had a daughter with US showbiz journalist Liza Ghorbani.
Ghorbani, 39, is suing Gallagher for £2million after he called off the relationship when she demanded child support.
Reports claim a DNA test has been carried out proving the singer is the girl’s father.

 The ex-Oasis star and his band Beady Eye left Ibiza yesterday to fly to mainland Spain where they were due to headline the Benicassim Festival. Earlier, the Mirror revealed Liam went on a booze binge with his bandmates on Wednesday night.
On Thursday night they had another bender which continued into the early hours. Insiders at the Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes Hotel said Liam spent around £2,000 on champagne, brandy, mojitos and tequila. At one point he was seen chatting with actor Idris Elba, star of BBC crime drama Luther, who he had a run-in with at the NME Awards earlier this year.
A source said: “He held court at the bar, upgrading from cocktails to champagne and buried the hatchet with old ‘enemy’ Idris who was also staying at the hotel with the pair enjoying a drink together. He didn’t go to bed until 1am.”

 Liam, 40, met Liza in 2010 when she wrote an article for the New York Times during which she followed the singer around various Manhattan bars. Yesterday, friends jumped to her defence. They say she never sought out fame and wanted to keep the identity of the father secret but felt she had to sue due to the singer’s “cold” behaviour.
One source said: “Liza isn’t after millions of dollars, she is simply seeking child support and no amount has yet been set. If they don’t settle, the case will go to a public trial.’
Last night a spokesman for the singer said: “We’re not commenting further on this, past the fact that his lawyers are taking legal action against the New York Post.”
The newspaper claimed the seven-month-old girl was born in January following a long-running affair and that Liam wrote in an email to Liza that the baby is “a beautiful child because she has rock star genes”.

He is also reported to have hired a lawyer in New York to defend himself against a paternity suit at the Manhattan Family Court. If the claims about Liza’s daughter are true, Liam will have fathered four different children by four different women.
In 1998 he had is first child with songwriter Lisa Moorish. Then in 1999 his first wife, actress Patsy Kensit, gave birth to their son Lennon. Two years later he had a son with Nicole who he married in 2008.
He boasted about being a great dad who had turned his back on a rock’n’roll lifestyle to be there for his family.
In an interview, he said “I’m top at being a dad”, adding that he and his children “have a lot of fun”.

Liam Gallagher told the woman who allegedly had his lovechild that the baby girl has “rock star genes”, it was claimed yesterday.
Rock star Liam made the comment – seemingly an admission that he is the father – in an email to the mum, according to reports in the US.
The mother who has made the bombshell lovechild claims was identified yesterday as 39-year-old American showbiz journalist Liza Ghorbani.
Reports claim that a DNA test has been carried out which proves married Liam, 40, is the dad of the six-month-old girl.
A source said: “Liam admitted the child is his in an email, saying she is a beautiful child because she has rock star genes.
“Liza met Liam when she interviewed him and they began an affair.
“It continued until around three months after the birth of the child. He ended the relationship when she told him she was suing him for child support.
“Liza isn’t after millions of dollars, she is simply seeking child support and no amount has yet been set.
“If they don’t settle on a figure, the case will go to a public trial.”

Despite the accusations on the other side of the Atlantic, Liam yesterday shrugged off the drama and enjoyed a boozy ?afternoon by the pool in Ibiza.
With his wife Nicole Appleton, 38, back at home, former Oasis singer Liam drank cocktails as he laughed and joked with his band Beady Eye.
Talking to the Mirror by the pool of the Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes Hotel, the non-plussed rocker brushed off the scandal.
He even contradicted his spokesman who had said Liam was taking legal action against the New York Post for naming him as the star at the centre of the claims.
Liam told us: “What girl? I’m not suing anyone. I’m here working. I haven’t read any stories about me.”
Pressed if he had seen the reports, he added bizarrely: “What? The one about Robbie Williams?” Liam’s laughter-filled booze session yesterday came despite claims Liza is suing him for £2million and ongoing child support.
It is understood they met in May 2010 when she followed the Wonderwall star around various Manhattan bars for a New York Times article.
“Not a lot of people look cool these days – like my cool,” he told her.
Yesterday a source close to Liza claimed: “He started an affair with her that night. They took a few months off, then started again. He cut it off. He was so paranoid his wife would find out.”
Since calling off their alleged affair, Liam has reportedly refused to speak to Liza, who had previously dated a famous British singer from the 80s.
Sources close to the journalist say ?that she felt “incredibly hurt” when she was left to pick up all the medical costs for her pregnancy.

 Yesterday the Mirror reported that Liam is suing the Rupert Murdoch-owned tabloid over the claims.
And despite Liam’s denial yesterday, a spokesman for the singer told the Mirror last night: “Liam Gallagher’s lawyers are taking legal action against the New York Post – we’re not commenting further.”
Liza has interviewed many of the world’s biggest stars including Beyonce, Robbie Williams and Wimbledon champ Andy Murray.
According to one report, the mum-of-one is “obsessed with rock stars”.
She has worked for Vogue, Elle, Rolling Stone as well as the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.
Last Friday Manhattan Family Court magistrate Matthew Troy adjourned the child support case, setting a hearing for later this month. The case was listed under “Anonymous v. Anonymous”.
Top Manhattan divorce lawyer Raoul Felder, who represents Gallagher, and Bill Beslow, who is acting for Liza, were last night ?unavailable for comment.
Flamboyant Felder has worked on a host of high profile paternity cases including acting for Luciana Morad who had a child with Mick Jagger.

 Following Liam’s Ibiza Rocks gig on Wednesday night, he is due to play at the Benicassim festival 50 miles north of Valencia on Spain’s east coast tonight.
If the claims about Liza’s daughter prove to be true, then Liam would end up with the unenviable tag of being a 4x4 father – having four different ?children by four different women.

He once said he wanted to move his entire family to New York once his children had finished school. Last year he bought a £1.7million apartment in the city.
