Singer and reality judge Demi Lovato has spoken out about the death of Glee star Cory Monteith.
The 20-year-old - who has been in rehab for addiction and cutting herself in 2011 - said it was a 'disease', he didn't mean to overdose and definitely didn't mean to kill himself.
The X Factor judge told People: "All it takes is one moment of vulnerability to get slipped into your addiction.
"It's not a choice. Nobody chooses to use. He didn't choose to die. It was the disease.
"It can creep up on you at any moment. It only takes one moment of relapse to potentially die.
"It's really scary, but I'm really hoping that from this, people are able to see this is a very, very, very dangerous disease."

She continued: "The main person in my thoughts is Lea. I am praying for her so hard and I love her so much. I'm wishing her a lot of strength right now."
And she says she's still fighting with her own demons - even today - and can't enjoy herself like her peers.
"They can turn 21 and have their turn-21st-birthday. I don't think that I – I just don't put myself in those situations where I'm going to be at those 21st birthdays.
"I don't go to clubs. I just know it's something I can't do without being triggered. And that's ok."

'Glee' star Cory Monteith has been found dead at a hotel in Canada.

The 31-year-old, who played the character Finn Hudson in the TV series, was found dead in his room on the 21st floor of the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver around noon on Saturday.

Deputy Police Chief Doug Lepard said there is no indication of foul play. The body of Monteith, who was dating co-star Lea Michele, was found by hotel staff after he missed his check-out time, Lepard said. “We do not have a great deal of information as to the cause of death,” Coroner Lisa Lapointe said.

Lepard said Monteith had been out with people earlier and that those people are being interviewed. Monteith voluntarily checked himself into rehab for substance abuse problems in April. The actor said during an interview in 2011 that he had been to rehab when he was 19.

Cory Monteith & Lea Michele’s Tragic Relationship Timeline & Photos

Cory Monteith Lea Michele Relationship History

The shocking news of Cory’s untimely death has left his co-star, girlfriend and best friend, Lea Michele, absolutely ‘devastated.’ Take a look back at how their relationship blossomed and enjoy photos of the couple in happier times.

Lea Michele, 26, and Cory Monteith met on the set of Glee back in 2009, but it wasn’t until 2012 that their friendship blossomed into a relationship. During their year and a half together as a couple, the bond between them only seemed to get stronger and stronger — and Lea even wanted to start a family with Cory. Not only were they inseparable, traveling from NYC to Canada and Mexico together on a slew of occasions, but they also made it through Cory’s stint in rehab in March of 2013. With the shocking news of the actor’s death at just 31, we’re taking a look back at how their relationship blossomed from friendship to real love.

Lea Michele & Cory Monteith’s Relationship Timeline:
May 2009: Glee season 1 premieres. Later, Cory admits he was very “nervous” when he first met Lea because he thought she was very talented.

Early 2010: Rumors start to fly that Lea might be dating her on-screen love interest in real life. Lea denies the rumors.

May 2010: Lea is spotted kissing her boyfriend of about a year, Broadway actor Theo Stockman, at the Time 100 Gala in NYC. Cory is linked to country crooner Taylor Swift.

September 2011: On the eve of Glee‘s season three premiere the news of Lea and Theo’s break-up is confirmed. “The relationship just ran it’s course,” her rep said in a statement. “They are still friends and will always be friends.”

November 2011: Mere months after Lea’s break up, rumors regarding her and Cory begin to run wild after the pair is seen looking quite close in the background of a Twitpic. The picture, which showed Jenna Ushkowitz and Damiam McGinty shooting a scene for the season 3 Christmas episode, was quickly removed.

February 2012: After years of speculation, Lea and Cory finally step out as a couple — it’s official! The pair was seen enjoying a romantic Valentine’s Day date in LA. This is considered to be the official start of their romantic relationship — and they looked like they were so in love on their date. A week later it’s reported that Lea accompanied Cory to Vancouver, where the Canadian native treated his lady to some winter weather fun. This is the first of many trips they would make together to British Columbia.

March 2012: Now that Cory and Lea are officially a couple, the pair is inseparable. Cory flew to New York, (which also happens to be where Lea was born), to host the GLAAD Media Awards and Lea came right along for the trip. Although she did not walk the carpet the couple was captured walking through JFK on their way back to LA.

April 2012: Lea and Cory jet off together yet again. This time the couple is spotted relaxing by the pool in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where Lea was wearing a tiny black bikini. The very next week, the pair hits the desert for the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California. Lea all but confirms their relationship status by tweeting, “I just saw a really hot 6-foot-3 Canadian with at tribal arm band hanging by the pool. So happy.” When the pair returned to LA they were spotted on a slew of adorable lunch dates.

May 2012: Although they have been inseparable for months and are constantly spotted traveling together, it isn’t until May 16 that we spot some PDA from the pair. Lea and Cory are all smiles while walking down the street in NYC, hand-in-hand. Later that day the pair took in a hockey game at Madison Square Garden, where the locked lips in front of the entire crowd.

June 2012: The couple is spotted heading back to Canada. Next, they were seen loved up during a lunch date at a Vancouver sushi restaurant. The following week they were spotted at the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball in LA, where the pair didn’t leave each other’s sides.

August 2012: Lea was shooting the first of her on-location scenes for season four of Glee, and Cory was right there by her side — although it wasn’t for work! Let’s not forget that his character, Finn, was away at boot camp. When she wasn’t working the couple was spotted holding hands and strolling through the city streets. The next time we see them in August they are both on the red carpet at the 2012 Do Something Awards, which marked their first red carpet as a couple.

October 2012: The couple is stronger than ever when rumors about their relationship begin to circulate. Stories claim that Lea is jealous of Kate Hudson and allegedly claim that she was flirting with Cory, while other stories say Cory is jealous of Lea’s chemistry with her co-star Dean Geyer. Regardless of all the stories, they remain united and look happier than ever, proving just how strong their relationship really is.

December 2012: Lea covers Marie Claire‘s January 2013 issue, in which she gushes about Cory. “I don’t even remember a time when he wasn’t my boyfriend,” said Lea. “No one knows me better than Cory. No one knows what it’s been like to go through this more than he does. Feeling like you have that net underneath you allows you to jump higher and go farther,” she said. “He makes me feel like I can do anything. For the first time in my life, I feel really, really settled and happy. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.”

The Holiday Season 2012: Cory and Lea head back to Canada and spend Thanksgiving with Cory’s family in November. In December, the pair decides to celebrate separately with their respective families, but reunite for New Year’s Eve, where they rang in 2013 with Lea’s family in Hawaii. It’s around this time that Cory officially confirms his relationship with Lea on the Ellen show.

January 2013: Cory isn’t the only one to publicly acknowledge their relationship! Lea is spotted wearing a ‘Cory’ necklace. The same month the pair gets glam for the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards, where they are once again inseperable on the red carpet.

February 2013: The couple steps out for a Valentine’s Day, (and their one-year anniversary date!). They also attend PaleyFest together, where the couple looks loved up — as always.

March 2013: Cory’s reps confirm that the star has decided to enter rehab for the second time and is seeking help for his substance abuse addiction. His relationship with Lea proves to be stronger than ever as she stands by his side, publicly stating that she will be there for him every step of the way.

April 2013: Sources tell us Lea was the driving factor behind Cory’s decision and can’t wait for him to get better so they can begin to enjoy their future together — and start a family. Lea can’t wait to have a baby with the love of her life and thinks Cory will make a great father. It’s in April that Cory leaves rehab and heads right back to Lea. The couple immediately set off to Victoria, British Columbia where they enjoy a brief vacation and are seen bonding with Cory’s mom over coffee.

May 2013: The co-star couple is spotted cheering on the Vancouver Canucks against the San Jose Sharks at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena. Lea is so supportive she even shared a photo of herself decked out in Canucks gear on twitter. Next, the couple jets off to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for some rest and relaxation.

June 2013: Cory makes his official return to the red carpet after his stint in rehab — and Lea is right by his side. The pair attended the 12th annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball in LA.

July 2013: Lea jets off to Cabo San Lucas for a quick girls trip, where she seems relaxed and happy — she didn’t look like she had a care in the world. It’s clear the star could never have predicted that the love of her life might have been in trouble. On July 13, Cory Monteith is found dead at 31 in his Vancouver hotel room. Sources exclusively tell us that Lea is beyond consolable at this time.

Cory Monteith: The Shocking Last Hours Of His Life Revealed

The day and night leading up to Cory’s death truly illustrates just how sudden and devastating his passing is.

Cory Monteith, best known for playing Finn on Glee, tragically passed away from causes still unknown on July 13. He was found dead and alone in his Vancouver hotel room. It is even more tragic to think that just hours before, Cory was happy and well, enjoying some time with friends.

Cory Monteith’s Last Day Revealed

The 31-year-old actor was staying at the Fairmount Pacific Rim hotel in downtown Vancouver. It is a luxurious spot right on the Vancouver Harbour with incredible views and lavish amenities — the perfect place to stay during a vacation in the Canadian city.
Based on the Vancouver Police Department’s official statement, we know that Cory wasn’t in town alone. Authorities stated that on July 12, less than 24 hours before Cory was found dead, he had friends over to his hotel room, according to People. After hanging out there, Cory and his group of friends reportedly went out until the early morning, when Cory returned to the room alone.
The police explained that Cory was scheduled to check out of the hotel on July 13 by noon, and that after failing to do so the hotel staff went to his room, where they found him dead.

Cory Monteith’s Last Tweets Before Death

Cory’s final tweets also shed some light on his last day, which he seemed to be partly spending by taking in the Syfy, Twitter-trending flick, Sharknado. “What the crap is Sharknado,” he first tweeted on July 12, and then added, “oh. IT’S A SHARK TORNADO.”
Those witty tweets only sting now in retrospect.

Cory Monteith: Did He Die From A Drug Overdose?

The cause of Cory’s death has not yet been confirmed, but based on the police’s report that he seemed to be out late and his well-documented addiction struggles, speculation is growing that it was an overdose.
The Glee actor had spent most of April in a rehab facility to fight his struggles with addiction abuse, and though he appeared to be healthy and doing well after checking out, the possibility that he fatally relapsed is very real.
No matter what the cause though, Cory’s death is a devastating tragedy. He was a great talent who died far too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this tough time.
