Smitten Lewis jumps at the chance of a summer of love as they rekindle the flame at her Beverly Hills mansion
Stunning Nicole Scherzinger and dashing race ace Lewis Hamilton are back on track after enjoying a romantic heart-to-heart love summit, the Sunday People can reveal.
The Formula One ex-champ was desperate to rekindle his relationship with The X Factor beauty, 35, and suggested they got together.
When she agreed to meet and invited Lewis, 28, to her plush Beverly Hills mansion he jumped at the chance of a brief summer of love.
The on/off couple, who last split last month, spent a couple of days discussing how they can make their five-year romance work with thousands of miles between them.
The visit to Nicole coincided with a three-week break from racing.
But, like last year, the couple will struggle to find time between F1 and her X Factor commitments to be together before Christmas.
A source close to Hertfordshire-born Lewis revealed: “Both Nicole and Lewis had a bit of time off so it was the perfect time to meet.
“After the split he was devastated so when he suggested that he fly out to see Nicole, he was delighted
she said yes.
“He went to her house in Los Angeles to talk things through and both thought it was a great success.
“It was the last opportunity when they could spend time together and talk through their future.
“They desperately want to be together but they know that from now until Christmas is going to be really tough. They’re both willing to give it their best shot and try to make a success of it though.”
The friend added: “They love one another dearly and have deeply missed each other since they split.”
Nicole returned to the UK after the visit last Wednesday to begin working on the bootcamp stage of The X Factor.
She wore ripped jeans in London and posted Twitter pictures of her flash small car as she looked for somewhere to live during the live shows, which begin in October.
Over their hectic autumn and winter, Lewis will be racing all over the world.
The Italian Grand Prix in Monza on September 8, is this year’s last one in Europe.
Two weeks later Lewis will be in Singapore, followed by Yeongam, South Korea.
From there he will race in Japan on October 13, by which time Nicole will be working every weekend on the live X Factor finals.
After Japan, Lewis will jet to India, then Abu Dhabi followed by Austin, US, and, on November 24, he will complete the season in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Lewis has made no secret of how much he has missed former Pussycat Doll Nicole. When he tweeted a picture of him and beloved dog, Roscoe, cuddling up in his car, he wrote: “Roscoe and me n a road trip only someone’s missing #partnerincrime.”
Two weeks ago he dedicated his Hungarian Grand Prix victory to the singer and in an emotional statement said: “It’s not been the easiest few months, I was just saying that my family have been really supportive.
“It feels a little bit odd without that someone here – but I would say now that these are one of those races you want to dedicate to that someone.”
A week earlier he hinted he was lovelorn without the beauty, writing on Twitter: “If you’ve found that special someone, don’t EVER let them go no matter what!! Nothing in this world is more important.”
Last year the couple struggled to see one another. Nicole’s time was taken up with mentoring the boys’ category, with her contestant James Arthur, 25, winning the series.
It is frowned upon by fans of the show for judges to leave acts behind while they fly around the world.
In 2011, singer Kelly Rowland, 32, came under fire for leaving her contestants to fly back to Los Angeles.
She was due to be back in time for a live show but could not make it so Alexandra Burke, 24, who won series five of The X Factor in 2008, stepped in.
Nicole was the final judge to sign up to this year’s show.
She left bosses hanging after demanding double the salary she received for her work last year.
She eventually put pen to paper on a contract which is worth £1.5million – the same as Take That star, Gary Barlow.
A source close to Nicole says: “Taking care of her acts is very important for Nicole. She is very competitive but also very loyal and wants her contestants to have the best chance possible of winning, or at least improving themselves.
“To her, if she is going to do
something then she will always do it properly. Lewis has always been very supportive of her career and always will be. They are both trying to work out a way forward.”
She and Lewis began dating when they met at the MTV awards in Berlin in 2007.
Both had hoped that they would marry and have kids, with Nicole saying: “I am the happiest I have ever been right now.
“Lewis is such an amazing, humble and chivalrous guy.
“We would love to have beautiful angel babies together one day.”
